Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.
A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.
Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:
Tummy tuck surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else's desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.
“Tummy -tucks” are not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Also, “tummy- tuck” operations cannot correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised, generally the treated areas below the belly button.
There are many varying cosmetic surgery techniques available for helping patients to improve the appearance of their abdominal soft tissues. In some cases, the use of ultrasonic vibratory and laser assisted liposculpturing can selectively remove excess fatty tissues while tightening the soft tissues and skin of the abdomen. This technique which we have termed RejuvLIPOSCULPT can be safely performed on an outpatient basis in our state-licensed in-office facility. In these cases, excess skin may contract and, thus avoid the need for more extensive procedures. In those cases where excision of excess loose skin and soft tissues is needed and/or there is a need for tightening of the loosened muscles of the abdominal wall, then Abdominoplasty may be needed. RejuvLIPOSCULPT Liposculpting procedure using ultrasound technology. Dr. Rubinstein is one the few doctors in the United States and the first surgeon in Sarasota and Manatee Counties to be performing and teaching this new patented technology and advanced surgical procedure. This unique form of liposuction uses ultrasound to melt and break up fatty tissue that is then gently suctioned out using tiny cannulas. Post-operatively a series of soothing vibratory percussive massages are then performed to further smoothen the tissue. This state-of-the-art body contouring technique has been published worldwide and is considered a great enhancement to other previous liposuction techniques. We now offer TICKLE LIPO, also known as Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (N.I.L).
